Current World Champion Philip Vischjager is a confirmed starter for the PartyGammon.com Million tournament next January. Philip won this year's World Championship of Backgammon in Monte Carlo and is a two-time winner of both the Dutch Open and the Amsterdam Open.
Also going to the PartyGammon.com Million is the USA's Nack Ballard. Nack has topped the prestigious 32 Giants of Backgammon poll three times in a row, and has countless tournament victories including back-to-back World Championships, and the American Backgammon Championship. The PartyGammon.com Million will take place from January 21-25 2007, and will be hosted at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. The tournament costs $10,000 to enter, and the field will be limited to 128 players. The prizepool is expected to be $1,000,000, with a minimum of $500,000 guaranteed to the first-place finisher. There are still some spots left, players can either buyin directly or elect to win their seat through satellites taking place exclusively at PartyGammon.com. Satellites are running from as little as $2.50, with players able to win a $12,500 prize package including buyin, 5 nights at the Atlantis resort, and $800 for spending money. With a star-studded field including top backgammon pros and international celebrities, the PartyGammon.com Million is expected to become one of the game's most glamorous events of the year. In addition to lavish parties and a Gala Dinner, the PartyGammon.com Million will be filmed for television and distributed worldwide.
