A field of 120 took their places today with entry for the tournament being USD $10,000. For the 8 players who lose the fastest a buy-back option is in place. They buy-back rate is another 10k. Unfortunately, Gus Hansen was a late withdrawal...still smelling the roses after his victory in the Aussie Millions in Melbourne

Bill Robertie vs David Wells (a late fly in from the Aussie Millions). David won a close match against Bill.

Malcolm Davis vs Rick Barabino. The dice were kind for Malcolm and he got home.

Kent Goulding vs Jim Pasko. Kent won this match up.

Nack Ballard vs Stu Hosen...still going

Tino Lechich vs Philip Vischjager (2006 monte carlo world champ)...pokernews rep into the 2nd round!

Other first round losers to buyback include Mike Svobodny and Abe Mosseri.

Round 2 starts at 830 pm...a redraw will be conducted!

Interestingly we are playing with clocks...15 seconds per move after which a time bank of 38 minutes per player is given...if you exhaust your 38 minute allocation you lose...so no slow players!!
