One of the big questions iPhone developers have to ponder is what sort of gamers will they attract with their product? Will it be hardcore gamers looking for driving games and first-person shooters, or more casual gamers looking for a quick fix?
Gameloft is placing its bets on the second option and has recently introduced Chess & Backgammon Classics to iPhone users. Both of these games use the iPhone's key features in their gameplay. In chess, you move pieces by dragging and dropping them with the touchscreen and have the option of choosing between 2D and 3D views of the board. Backgammon lovers are expected to have even more fun on their iPhone as users have to shake the phone to roll the dice. Also on offer are a variety of difficulty levels, "human-like artificial intelligence", and a large choice of themes to keep the games looking fresh. Players have three modes to choose from - Instant Play, Quiz and Classic Games. Chess & Backgammon Classics is available now from the Apple Store for £5.99. Related articles
