Israeli-based online backgammon site, Play65 has donated 100 backgammon boards to special schools in Israel as part of Good Deeds Day. The Good Deeds Day was initiated for the second consecutive year by The Ted Arison Family Foundation on Tuesday, June 17. The concept behind this day is to invite organisations and individuals to find different ways other than donating money to contribute to the community. This includes volunteering, giving away goods or devoting your time for a good cause.
Every year, The Ted Arison Family Foundation and other firms with philanthropic means such as the Israeli Bank Hapoallim, join forces on the much anticipated Good Deeds Day. On this day, individuals and large corporations are encouraged to use any of their resources to contribute to the community. Aside from monetary donations, all other forms of contributions are accepted. Leading online backgammon platform Play65, have donated 100 backgammon boards to special educational institutions across the country. They are standard sized backgammon boards made of full grained wood. They will arrive to the substitutional homes of deprived youth and children of broken families, who are expected to embrace the classic board game. Despite having a name that is associated with a war game, backgammon ("little battle" in Welsh), has been known for centuries for its soothing effect on adolescents' raging hormones, making the backgammon board the ultimate good deed.
