Go to the WSOB Championship With Play65 Qualifiers

Leading online backgammon site Play65 has announced running qualifiers to the World Series of Backgammon Championship. WSOB will take place on July 21 at the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes, France. Each of the 3 top winners of Play65 WSOB qualifiers will earn a free €10.000 seat at the final table of the second season of the World Series of Backgammon.

Play 65, being the world's largest online backgammon website, is making an effort to blur the boundaries between online and live backgammon. After making headlines at the 19th City of Venice International Backgammon Tournament and sponsoring top players at the 2008 Nordic Open Backgammon Championship, Play65 intends to send three qualifiers to compete against the best backgammon players in the world at the 2007-8 WSOB Cannes Final.

On Play65 backgammon software, a special qualifier tournament will take place on the second Sunday of May, and on the first Sunday of June and July. €2.000 in cash prizes will be shared by the top 16 players on every tournament in addition to the 1st prize of €10.000 free seat at the World Series of Backgammon Championship. Entry fee for the WSOB qualifiers is €90. Nevertheless, players can earn free entry to the qualifiers by winning any of the satellites run by Play65. The WSOB Championship in Cannes is going to be the Grande Finale of a second, successful season of the World Series of Backgammon. Started out in November 2007 at the UK Masters and continued last March at the 20th Anniversary Nordic Open, the 2007-8 World Series of Backgammon will come to its end on mid July at the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes, first at the Riviera Cup and right afterwards at the WSOB final table.

The WSOB Championship event will feature the top ranked WSOB players and the winners of the UK Masters, Nordic Open and Riviera Cup tournaments. There are three reserved seats waiting to be filled by Play65 backgammon Players (out of 8 online qualifiers).
