The World Series of Backgammon announced the launch of their WSOB Profile which is a semi-automated database of player profiles and information for official WSOB event participants. The profile is for those intending to play WSOB events and new online players vying for low-entry satellite routes.
The new World Backgammon Ratings system and the WSOB Race standings are used in WSOB Profiles to help build data about the status of a player. Players' accrued prize money will be an indicator that determines the strength and performance of the players in major international events. All WSOB and WBR information is added automatically. Players can add information on all time prize money won, other event wins and close finishes in their personal 'Blog'. "In the Backgammon game there are several benchmarks needed to help determine the leading players in the world. WSOB performance is one of the key barometers we can use to help identify the capability and the consistency of the players. The WSOB Profile is a great tool to build this knowledge for the playing community and the growing worldwide television audience who are perhaps new to the game," said WSOB Director, Andy Bell. To update a profile, a player needs to simply click on their name in the WSOB Race standings. Once verification has been sent back by email, fields can be updated in their own time. New players can click a link to add a new profile.
