Winner Crowned at 2008 Bodrum Open Championship

One of the major tournaments of the WBF Turkey, the Bodrum Open Championship, was played on October 10 – 12, at Defli Hotel, Bodrum, Turkey. Bodrum Open is the fifth leg of the WBF Turkey Backgammon Tour and its Main Event featured Double Elimination style play. Other activities included Modern Backgammon, Jackpot, Consultant Doubles, Women Exclusive and WBF-Turkey patented Arena side activites. In total, there were six categories and 30 hours of backgammon play.

75 playes from all parts of Bodrum, as well as professionals from Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, Zonguldak and Antalya gathered for this coveted event. One of the Main Event Finalists included a well known player from Bodrum, Umit Ilik. His fair play stood out during the tournaments, however this was not enough to beat Eyup Durmus. After winning six consecutive matches, the 67 minute final was Durmus' 7th and the ultimate win: 7-2.
